A new spectroscopic orbit for the detached eclipsing binary NY Cep is presented. Revised masses of 13 + or - 1 and 9.3 + or - 0.6 solar are found for the primary and secondary, respectively. Apsidal motion might be presented at a rate of 0.28 + or - 0.16 deg/yr. The derived absolute dimensions are shown to be consistent with the photometric data. NY Cep is a young object about 6 million yr old. The system lies at a distance of about 725 pc.
