The author has carried out photoelectric photometry of the Moon's surface on every occasion of the total lunar eclipses observable from Japan. From the observational results of the four lunar eclipses of the 1970's, he concluded that the surface brightness of each lunar eclipse was almost similar (Sekiguchi, 1980), but the total lunar eclipse on December 30, 1982, was abnormally dark compared with the former eclipses.
