We request radio continuum observations of the nearby face-on spiral galaxy NGC300 with the LBA to carry out wide field mapping. The galaxy hosts many supernova remnants. The study is part of a multiwavelength campaign to uncover the connection between supernovae, massive star formation and gas density in spirals. We also hope to observe the same target with the GMRT and ATCA in the 21cm H I line. The requested continuum observations at high angular resolution of this galaxy will address: 1) recent star formation activity in the galaxy and in particular around the sites of SNRs by cross-correlating the neutral hydrogen data; 2) spatially resolve the known supernova remnants, H II regions and other sites of recent massive star formation and determine their morphological nature; 3) determine the nature of the suspected SNRs by resolving these sources; 4) detect the supershells around older OB associations. These observations will be supplemented by observations from archival data from GALEX, -- the latter directly observes the FUV light emitted from the photospheres of massive stars occurring in young stellar associations and ground based optical observations. Population synthesis models using these data will determine star formation histories of these regions with SNRs.
