Solar Atmosphere: Solar Oscillations
Scientific paper
The mechanism that keeps the surface of the Sun in 5-min oscillations remains to be soundly confirmed by direct observations. The present study aims at working out, with an alternative approach, the 2-D response of the solar atmosphere to a local perturbation induced by impulsive convective motions. Using the wavelet transform, the authors provide an observed phase relationship between convective eddies and the atmospheric wave that helps to understand the energy exchange process.
