Using the relative proper motions of 128 member stars of NGC 6494, a
cluster mass of approximately 1300 M solar masses is estimated by
application of the virial theorem. This value is found to be in
excellent agreement with the 'directly' counted cluster mass of 1200 M
solar masses.
