The detection of a high-velocity double-peaked 1612-MHz emission feature close to the galactic center during a large-scale OH survey is reported. The position of the source is derived, and it is shown that the form of the line profile and the velocity separation of the two components are typical of those of type IIb OH/IR stars. It is found that the object has a mean radial velocity of -341 km/sec and that it seems to be moving counter to the general galactic rotation.
