A recent detailed calibration of the uvby photometric system for late-type stars has opened the possibility of studying photometric effects of stellar activity in the RS CVn group of binaries. A uvbyβ photometric study of 72 northern-hemisphere binary systems with active chromospheres has been carried out at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (La Palma, Canary Islands) with a People's photometer attached to the JKT 1.0 m telescope. The standardized colours and V magnitudes are presented as a function of the orbital phase, along with an indication of their accuracy. A detailed discussion of atmospheric extinction, characteristics of the photometric system and transformation coefficients is also included.
