Scientific paper

We present multifrequency observations made with the VLA and MERLIN,
which clearly show that the `steep-spectrum core' of 3C293 has a
two-sided jet structure with a true flat-spectrum core. We discuss the
radio structure and its relationship with the class of compact
steep-spectrum sources.
