We are beginning a search for transiting extra-solar planets using the 0.5-m Automated Patrol Telescope (APT) at Siding Spring Observatory, Australia. The main challenge has been overcoming the effects of intra-pixel sensitivity variations in the CCD, coupled with under-sampling, to achieve high photometric precision. Using a modified version of software developed by Anderson and King (2000), we can now measure stars with V > 14 to 1% precision from a single 150-second APT image. Dedicating 50% of the available APT observing time to this project, we estimate that we should detect (about) 7 new short-period, Jupiter-sized planets per year.
