On the basis of the results of the Harvard meteor programs of the 1950s and 1960s and of other studies, Cook (1973) has presented a working list of 58 meteor showers. Since a test utilizing the quantity D, devised by Southworth and Hawkins (1963) was not expressly used to establish the associations on Cook's list of meteor showers, it was decided to evaluate his purported comet/meteor shower and shower/shower associations in terms of D and a slightly modified D-parameter. Furthermore, a search through the Catalogue of Cometary Orbits (Marsden, 1979) was made in order to find other possible matches between meteor showers and observed comets. A search of the orbits of numbered asteroids was also made to identify minor planets which might be related to meteor showers.
