Consequences of the possible presence of diffuse matter in globular cluster cores are investigated by studying gas and dust cloud models. A value not exceeding one solar mass is adopted for the gas mass, and matter is taken to consist mainly of hydrogen and a small amount of dust grains. Absorption due to dust affects the integrated colors and radial color gradients. In order to obtain the absorption without having too massive a cloud, the ratio between dust and gas masses is taken to be almost interstellar, and grains must be absorbing efficiently. It is assumed that some accumulation and/or segregation of grains towards the core clusters also takes place. It is suggested that the presence of diffuse matter concentrated towards the cluster centers can account for the color profiles.
