We present the first results obtained from a systematic search of
periodicities carried out over two samples of X-ray sources: (i) those
detected in the public ROSAT HRI fields, and (ii) a selected number of
candidate High Mass X-ray Binaries in the Small Magellanic Cloud
observed by BeppoSAX. .
