Using daily values of different solar activity indices - Wolf numbers (solar cycles 14 - 21), sunspot areas (cycles 19 - 21), UV emission flux in the lines h and K Mg II (λ = 280 mkm) (cycle 21) and the total solar emission flux (cycle 21) - their power spectra were calculated with the FFT for each cycle. On the basis of an analysis of their spectra a conclusion is made that there is a system of periods in the series of these indices. The values of these periods vary insignificantly from cycle to cycle and are faintly dependent on the type of indices, unlike the amplitudes which can vary in a wide range. It is concluded that there might be a mechanism on the Sun, which generates the system of periodic oscillations of solar activity. A supposition is made that periodic energy impulses emerging as a result of coupling between different modes of solar proper oscillations can be such a mechanism.
