A spectroscopic survey has been made of 50 possible planetary nebulae towards the galactic bulge and of some stellar planetaries in the southern Milky Way. Possible emission-line stars have been described. The nebulae have been assigned excitation classes and the distribution of these among the galactic bulge objects is compared with the distribution in the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds. The galactic bulge planetaries do not apparently relate to either Cloud, though selection effects may distort the distribution.
