The galaxies of the Local Group act as the astrophysical laboratory for studying the effect that metallicity (and other environmental factors) have on star formation and massive star evolution. We have taken advantage of the NOAO "survey program" to conduct UBVRI and narrow-band (Halpha, [OIII], [SII]) imaging of most of the Local Group galaxies currently forming stars. Our images and analysis software have been public since 2003 through the web. Now we have completed our broad-band calibration using 30 pristine photometric nights on the Lowell 1.1-m Hall telescope, and present the UBVRI catalog of M31 (300,000 stars) and M33 (200,000 stars). Our color-magnitude diagrams reveal the basic stellar populations, and allow one to (for instance) distinquish red supergiants from foreground dwarfs. Spectroscopy of a small sample of carefully chosen stars reveals some surprises, including a P Cygni look-alike in M31.
