Results of a survey of yellow supergiants (predominantly F and G) that was undertaken to search for distorted Balmer lines are presented. A comparison between the photometrically variable and nonvariable supergiants is made with respect to the distorted and undistorted Balmer-line profiles. To complement the analysis, IRAS data are used to detect excess infrared emission, to infer circumstellar dust, and to suggest a possible prior M supergiant evolutionary phase. Plans for future work are briefly discussed.
