The effective temperature of a star is one of the most important parameters, which determine the continuum and spectral lines in the stellar spectrum. A surface fitting technique is proposed to estimate the stellar effective temperature in this paper. Firstly the model spectrum data is processed by the PCA, then a surface, which is an exponential function of a polynomial with base 10, is used to fit the points defined by the PCA data and corresponding effective temperatures, and the effective temperature of other star is determined by the fitting surface. The experiments verify the efficiency of this technique, and show that the exponential function of a cubic polynomial with base 10 in two-dimensional PCA is best in numerical accuracy and robustness.
