The phenomenon of strange polarization in magnetospheric and ionospheric sounding experiments is investigated. Such polarization occurs when a signal in the form of electron whisters (typical VLF waves) reaches the registration point (a satellite) on two different trajectories in the meridional plane of the magnetosphere. The interference of these two components can cause the total-field vector to rotate in the direction of ion spin in the geomagnetic field, though in each of the components the field vector rotates in the direction of electron spin. This strange-polarization effect is examined as a sufficient sign of VLF-wave interference.
