The paper presents some preliminary statistical results of VLBI cores in active galactic nuclei from large samples, including the spectral index, the variation of the core angular size with the VLBI observing frequency, the relation between the core size and the compact jet angular size and the distribution of core size over redshift. In the inhomogeneous model the authors estimated the distributions of the magnetic field and the electron density in the jet.
