σy(τ) and σz(τ) used for describing clock stability were analysed and compared with each other. A set of timing residuals of PSR B1855+09 was analysed with σy(τ) method and σz(τ) method respectively. Results indicate that σz(τ) method is more suitable for pulsar stability study comparing with σy(τ) method.
