The velocity field maps at four instants before and during the flare of 1980 July 14 are obtained and analysed. Obvious changes in the velocity field provide a strong support for the EMF model. The characteristic time of energy storage may be as short as one hour, if new emergant flux is the main energy source. Observations show that there may be more than one current sheet at the flare maximum.
