Spectral energy distributions (SEDs) for eight Herbig Ae/Be multiple systems have been constructed with the intent of determining the spectral type of the companion and observing any near-infrared excess in the spectrum. Five of the eight systems (BF Ori, HR 5999, V586 Ori, MWC 147, MWC 863) exhibit the expected features, a late-type companion with near-infrared excess, which necessarily makes it difficult to determine a spectral type based on the SED alone. The remaining three systems lack either some or all of these features. Near-infrared spectra has been analyzed for one of the three anomalous systems, Hen 3-225, which confirms that it is an early B star. This leads to two possibilities: the companion of Hen 3-225 is an unassociated background star or it suffers from roughly 1.5 magnitudes of grey extinction without significant reddening or near infrared excess.
