The initial observational results are presented from a study of the large-scale structure in the distribution of galaxies in an ˜4000 deg2 region nominally centered about the Cancer cluster. A sample of 1555 galaxies is defined and the observational methods used in the study are summarized. The spectra of 250 galaxies detected in H I, and the associated measured parameters and computed properties, are given. An Appendix contains the results from an investigation of the errors associated with the parameters measured from galaxian spectral-line profiles as a function of the signal-to-noise ratio.
