The authors have studied optical B, V, R, I, and Hα CCD images and high- and low-resolution long-slit spectra, 21-cm H I line observations made with radio-synthesis and single-dish telescopes, 6 and 20 cm radio continuum maps, and far-infrared observations ob 6 members of the KUG 2259+157 group of galaxies: NGC 7448, the compact subgroup NGC 7463-64-65 (=KUG 2259+157), UGC 12313 and 12321. The authors find clear evidence for an extended cloud of about 5×109Msun whose centre appears to be located nearby to the north-west of UGC 12321, with an average velocity of some 1950 km s-1, which is close to that of UGC 12313. The data also indicate a systematic motion of the cloud. The clearest signs of interaction in the group are the optical characteristics of NGC 7464 and 7465, which indicate that these are actively star forming merging systems, consistent with their gas-rich nature and peculiar H I distribution and kinematics. The detached large low-surface density cloud in the vicinity of UGC 12321 may also have a tidal origin.
