The strength of the 6180A band was determined for over 240 early type stars by means of a photoelectric photometer utilizing two narrow band interference filters. A 6180A index was established by a using a procedure analogous to what Crawford used for his H beta index. In addition, for twelve stars, satellites were examined with a silicon intensifier target (SIT) vidicon spectrometer system. Instrumental effects were eliminated by taking the ratio of the profile of the program star with the profile of its comparison star, an unreddened star of similar spectral type.
