Some 76 results of rocket measurements of ionospheric currents worldwide from 1948 to 1973 have been collected and arranged into seven groups worldwide suggested by the characteristics of geomagnetic variations which they cause. The present work considers the following topics: (1) general setting and nighttime ionospheric currents (ICs); (2) ICs outside the dip equatorial zone; (3) ICs at the magnetic dip equator; (4) ICs in the transition zone; and (5) modeling rocket profiles of low-latitude ICs.
