A significant number of supernova remnants (SNRs) are classified as mixed morphology (MM), characterized by a shell-like radio emission and centrally peaked X-ray emission, but there is still no consensus on the mechanism responsible for such a morphology. We report progress on a study of MM SNRs using archival Chandra observations, which provide increased sensitivity and resolution compared to ROSAT and ASCA data previously used to derive global MM SNR characteristics. We have investigated the plasma conditions (primarily the temperature profile and abundance distribution) across the remnants, and compared them with predictions from existing models. These results will be used to confront and revise the current defining properties of MM remnants.
