Photoelectric photometry is presented for 200 OB stars situated in two areas around the Carina arm centered at 1 = 280 deg, b = 0 deg and 1 = 298 deg, b = 0 deg; individual distances and color excesses have been determined. The interstellar dust is shown to be rather concentrated and distributed in patches within 2 kpc from the sun in the 280 deg direction, and a great number of early-type stars are found here. In the 298 deg area the interstellar extinction is low and no interstellar dust is found for r = 1.5-3.5 kpc. In addition, the distribution of early-type stars indicates no connection between the Carina arm and the local arm, and many early-type stars were found between 4.5 and 6.9 kpc.
