New observations of the J=1-0 12CO, 13CO, and C18O emission have been extensively made toward the Vela Molecular Ridge (VMR) with NANTEN. The total mass of the molecular gas traced by 12CO is estimated to be 5.6 x 105 Modot. The most prominent feature is a giant molecular cloud in VMR-C region (Vela C). Twenty nine clouds have been identified in the present C18O distribution. Among them, the most massive one is included in Vela C, having total mass of 4.4 x 104 Modot. Most of the C18O clouds contain candidates of young stellar objects (YSOs) identified from IRAS data. The luminosities of the associated protostellar IRAS sources indicate that intermediate- and high-mass star formation takes place in this region. We found that the ratio of the total luminosity of the IRAS sources to the cloud mass is enhanced for the cloud associated with HII region by an order of magnitude. This is interpreted that formation of massive stars is enhanced due to the effects of HII regions. We also newly found an outflow toward IRAS 08588-4347 as well as five possible candidates for outflow. From comparison with the distributions of the astronomical objects, we suggest that star forming regions are roughly distributed from low to high latitude according to the age sequence.
