We intend to study magnetic chemically peculiar (CP) stars within young and intermediate age open clusters using the (Delta) a photometric system which samples the, for this star group, characteristic broad band absorption feature located around 5200Å. A century ago Antonia Maury detected a subclass of A-type stars with peculiar lines and line strengths which thereafter became known as Ap stars. Subsequently, these stars revealed other peculiar features, e.g. the existence of a strong global magnetic field with a predominant dipole component located at random with respect to the stellar rotation axis and the center of the star. The CP stars play a key role for the understanding of stellar evolution in the presence of a strong local magnetic field. Furthermore, processes like diffusion and stratification can be studied depending on the age. We propose to continue our survey in open clusters of the Milky Way in widely different galactocentric distances.
