The behavior of atmospheric extinction at CTIO from 1964 to 1980 is analyzed. Rayleigh scattering, aerosol extinction and ozone absorption parameters are determined. It is concluded that no increase of the effects of atmospheric pollution at the observing site are noticeable. The errors produced in the stellar monochromatic magnitudes when using average extinction values are discussed.
