Consideration is given to the Venera-12 studies of the aerosol content in the cloud layer of Venus. Calibrated spectra are presented for variations in sulfer, chloride, mercury and argon. On the basis of the spectra of fluorescent radiation data, atmospheric components are presented and it is found that in the 54-47 km range the primary aerosol components are chlorine compounds. Sulfur compounds are significantly less abundant in the same range. Results from a number of other experiments are given, noting that they have all indicated that the layer with the greatest aerosol content is the 51-47 km range.
