Active Galactic Nuclei: Statistics, Active Galactic Nuclei: Superluminal Motions

Scientific paper

Statistical analyses with a sample of superluminal sources to test unified schemes in Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs) are carried out. The distributions of the ratio R of core emission to extended emission and average viewing angle of various types of AGNs are presented. By analysing R, Lorentz factors, projected angular sizes and deprojected linear scales of the sample, the authors find an anticorrelation between R and projected angular sizes and a correlation between Lorentz factors and deprojected linear scales. These results are in support of the orientation effect of unified schemes.
