A statistical analysis is carried out of the microstructure of the pulses from PSR 0809+74. Two types of microstructures are established, one with a characteristic scale less than 500 microseconds, the other with a millisecond scale (0.6-9 milliseconds). It is found that the microstructure is often periodic, the distribution of periods being either 'short' (between 50 and 350 microseconds) or 'long' (between 1 and 10 milliseconds). The distribution of scales and the periodicity of the microstructure are discussed.
