We request HST time in order to obtain a spectrum of Procyon B in a variety of wavelength ranges with the FOS. This spectrum will complement cycle 4 photometry done with WF/PC-2 and will allow us to determine the temperature and chemical composition of this critically important star. Procyon B is one of a handful of white dwarf stars which are in a visual binary system. These data will allow us to place Procyon B on the mass-radius relation, testing our concept of relativistic degeneracy. Furthermore, since the age of the system is known, we can determine the mass of Procyon B's progenitor star and thus provide an important fundamental datum to test theories of stellar mass loss.
