We present estimates for the effective temperature, luminosity, extinction and excess infrared emission for ~ 40 members of the young embedded cluster NGC 2024. These results were derived from infrared (2.15-2.35 mu m) spectroscopy and J, H, K and L(') \ photometry. We estimate the masses and ages of these stars by comparing their location on the H-R diagram to theoretical pre-main sequence evolutionary tracks. These results are used to explore issues of co-evality, mass and/or age segregation and disk activity in NGC 2024.
