Eclipsing Binary Stars, Stellar Spectra, Electron Density (Concentration), H Beta Line, Spectral Line Width, Stellar Atmospheres, Stellar Envelopes
Scientific paper
A spectral investigation of the eclipsing binary star XZ Cephei was made from 18 spectrograms with dispersions of 9 and 28 A/mm. The star's spectrum proved to be composite, with complexly varying line profiles, with phase variation of the equivalent widths of hydrogen and helium lines, and variation of the electron densities in the envelope. The system consists of a B1.5 II-III primary star and a B1.1 III-V satellite, between which gas flow is observed. The stars are surrounded by envelopes, the heavier of which surrounds the secondary component.
