In an effort to prepare Galileo SSI Io multiband images for multi-instrument analysis a set of three image/spectral cubes were prepared using the ISIS software. These three dimensional arrays are composed of on chip mosaiced images that were obtained through a set of 4 filters (0.404, 0.560, 0.671, and 0.756 mu m) at approximately 16 km/pixel resolution. A image/spectral cube is a three dimensional array containing spatial (image) information on the x and y axis and with spectral information on the z axis. A lunar lambert photometric function was applied to these data to correct for the varying phase angles of the many multiband SSI observations in an effort to remove illumination variations. A preliminary supervised spectral classification of these image/spectral cube mapped a minimum of 4 classes of spectra including a reddish spectral unit which forms a ``halo'' around Pele and a ``flat'' spectral unit which may be associated with SO_2 frost. At the present time the Galileo and Voyager multiband data are being processed and convolved for direct comparison of spectral types and units, including a comparison of telescopic and spacecraft derived calibration, in an effort to map out the spectral changes on Io since the Voyager missions to Jupiter. Linear mixing model and principal component classification methods are presently applied to the data to analyze the Io data. The results of these efforts will be reported at the 1996 Division for Planetary Sciences conference.
