A method for spatial resolution enhancement by means of inversion techniques is proposed. If the samples are overlapped, effective spatial resolution can be improved even if the Instantaneous Field of View(IFOV) of a satellite based sensor is large. Experimental results with MOS-1/VTIR data show almost twice of improvement of spatial resolution. It was found that mean square error between original and enhanced images increases with increasing existing noise and overlapping ratio. Another method with constraints is also proposed to overcome such a noise sensitivity. Depending on the constraints, mean square error decreases in accordance with degradation of spatial resolution enhancement effect.
