A 4-zone solar model is considered which contains a convective core, a chemically inhomogeneous convectively neutral zone, a radiative zone and a convective envelope. On the core boundary such an abrupt change in the density and molecular weight is supposed to be present due to which a deeply localized 160-min mode turns out to exist. This mode is usually unstable. In this model the heavy element abundance at the bottom of the inhomogeneous neutral zone having a superadiabatic temperature gradient is slightly larger than in the core. A brief discussion of the frequencies of deeply penetrating 5-min modes for the model in question is also given.
