A model solar photosphere is derived from observed absolute intensity and limb darkening of the continuum spectrum between 4000 and 24018 A. The results, with lg tau(c) at 5000 A as argument, show good agreement between theoretical results and observations. For the limb darkening coefficient and the continuum absolute intensity of the center of the solar disk, the mean relative errors are 1.2 percent and 0.68 percent, respectively. Differences between the results obtained by this model and those from the Harvard-Smithsonian Reference Atmosphere model (Gingerich et al., 1971) are discussed.
