Preliminary results of an extended program of coordinated X-ray and optical observations of TT Ari are presented. The object was observed on August 21/22 1985 both in X-ray (EXOSAT) and optical range about 100 days after the return to the active state. The first detailed simultaneous study of TT Ari in active state indicates the presence of a strongly absorbing structure in the system.
