Mathematical conditions are proposed for explaining a sidelobe-free Šolc filter structure. The author developed filter designs in which the outer phase plates are rejected in systems with a large number of elements and a binomial distribution of component orientation angles. Spectral properties of filters with a truncated binomial distribution compare well with other optimum solutions for Šolc filters, while the filter synthesis follows the simplest procedure.
