Gamma-Ray Burst, Light Curve, Internal Shock Model

Scientific paper

In this paper, a simple shock model is adopted to discuss the profile of gamma-ray burst light curves. According to the shock theory, the ejecta produced by explosion form the pressure pulse, and it spreads in forms of either compression waves or expansion waves. Shocks are formed by merge of compression waves with each other and its magnitude is enhanced or declined by catching compression waves or expansion waves behind the shock respectively. This model can simulate the light curve of the gamma-ray burst and naturally describe the profile characteristic "fast rise and decay exponent" very well. It is found that the transmission characteristic of the compression waves or expansion waves naturally result in the situation in gamma-ray bursts.
