A simple and straightforward method of orbit determination using three or more observations is discussed. The method, which treats all observations in a symmetrical way, may be used for all types of Kepler orbits (elliptic, parabolic, or hyperbolic), and works for minor planets and comets as well. The use of position and velocity at a fixed epoch as orbital parameters makes it unnecessary to discuss special cases (small inclination, small eccentricity) separately. The formulas of the text are therefore easily transformed into computer codes
