Using NGC 5128 as an example, it is shown that, with acceptable parameter values, the shock-wind mechanism can provide the dynamics of the interstellar gas swept up by a galactic wind from an active nucleus necessary for shell-like structures to form. The periodically repeating star formation process in the gas shell due to the interaction between galactic wind and the interstellar medium and the recurrent activity of the nucleus lead to the formation of the star shell system observed in NGC 5128.
