A search program has been initiated in H II regions around high Galactic latitude B-stars with relatively large E(B-V), allowing one to assume the average hydrogen number density along the line of sight to be about 1/cu cm. To measure the hydrogen emission intensity in the H(beta) line, a Fabry-Perot spectrometer with a field of view of about 2 deg and pneumatic scanning along a wavelength is used. H II regions have been discovered around HR 7993 (B05V) Pi Aqr (B1Ve) and HR 2142 (B2Ven), and using the measured total flux in H(beta), the excitation parameter U(Sp) and total number of Lyman continuum quanta are determined for them. The measured values of U(Sp) are respectively 1.3, 1.5, and 2.7 times greater than the theoretical values for these stars (Panagia, 1973). Around beta Cep with a small E(B-V) no hydrogen emission was found, the value of the emission measure being smaller than 2 pc/cm exp 6.
