Using data in the ROSAT HRI archive, we carried out a search for small-scale X-ray substructure in six cooling flow clusters (Abell 478, Abell 2029, Abell 2597, Cygnus A, Ophiuchus, and M87). Our primary scientific goal was to detect enhancements in the X-ray emission which might be indicative of cool, high-density thermal instabilities in the cooling gas. The fluctuations in most of the clusters is consistent with Poissonian noise. One cluster, M87, showed some evidence for emission enhancements at the 3sigma level. Further observations are required to demonstrate the reality of these enhancements.
