The authors report the results of sensitive searches for rotationally-excited transitions of CH in galactic sources, most of which are known to contain CH in its lowest rotational level. No detections were made, although the sensitivity achieved in many instances is approaching that for which thermal emisson might be detectable. The implications of these results are discussed in terms of the expected excitation and in the light of recent observations of the lowest excited state of CH by Ziurys and Turner (1985).
