The authors report the results of a search for radio recombination lines
from 10 galaxies and quasars at 4.8 GHz. The only recombination line
unambiguously detected at this frequency was H111α in M82,
however, possible spectral features were observed in OQ 208, PKS
2134+004, and B2 0333+32.
